Cat and Mouse

It was a game of cat and mouse plus man and woman last night.

Robbie and I were both upstairs enjoying separate entertainment in different rooms. It all started when I heard a noise that sounded like a door being closed downstairs. I few seconds go by and I naturally asked Robbie if he'd heard it and if he'd check it out (damsel in distress, ya know?) So I hear him walk into the hallway and he said, "Kitten brought us a present....It's a mouse!"

Now, originally it looked like one of her play mice that we give her that have been soaked in cat nip, clearly this mouse's tail was a little too real and that's what gave it away. He was playing dead upon first glance, I mean I would too if I'd been ripped from my humble abode of a garage and then gotten carried up a flight of stairs. This is our first totally freaked out view of the mouse.

That tail was all I needed to see to know we were in for trouble!
Then Mr. Mouse came to his senses and darted around upstairs, ending up right in front of our bedroom door where I was clearly squatting on top of the bed so as not to touch the floor. We decided to close all the doors, leaving me wondering what in the world was going on out there! The mouse ran downstairs, Kitten in tow and found more corners to hide in.

See that gray piece next to the lamp cord, that's definitely our mouse.

Then Robbie, realizing he is weaponless grabs a broom from the garage which ended up working in his favor. It's just too bad the broom wasn't 10 feet long!

There's no way I was going down there until the mouse was clear from that corner.

Thar she blows! Running to the front door as if to say, "Please let me out of here, I swear I won't come back again!"

Then we moved into the kitchen. We were thinking alright, there's just cabinets around here, no way a mouse could hide anywhere in here, right? Wrong.

The dishwasher.

Little did we know there was a small space under the dishwasher, perfect for a mouse to sneak in and take a breather for a minute.

Until we took the panel off with a screwdriver. This mouse had no chance!

Come out, come out where ever you are!

She was serious business.

It worked! The mouse ran back to the front door. That's when we thought, ok we've gotta get this thing out of here. With a clawless kitty, it was up to us to finish the job.

Ew. Just ew.

This was actually the funniest part of it all. The mouse knew the way out was through Robbie and would run toward him. He would use the broom to throw the mouse into the air and toward the door. It hit the door a few times. He's probably out in the world with a head ache and anxiety right now. But he's out of our house and that's all that matters! Boy it was an eventful night.

I was a little nervous about coming downstairs this morning. I'm keeping my feet up a little more today.

Today we spent this perfect Sunday in many perfect ways. Laundry, catching up on recorded shows, lunch at Mitchell's, checking out open houses (and naturally falling in love with one), and ice cream from our favorite place. Which fit perfectly for my photo today. Circle.

Just some more random pictures from the day.

Best hubby I've ever had.
Hope you're rested and rejuvenated for this working week!

1:00 pm

What was I doing 1 pm on Saturday? Let me start by saying I'm just glad I was doing something cool enough to take a picture of it. I just so happened to be having lunch at Cinco de Mayo with Jess. Kelly joined us later, too. Photos you ask...?

Just two little creative moments we thought of. Thanks (once again) Jess!

Somewhere I've been

I truly enjoy when Robbie and I get to go on dates. We had a birthday dinner planned for his brother at everyone's favorite....

Try the fish tacos!

After dinner the hubby and I thought, hey we're already out...let's do some stuff. So we chose our usual two spots when we slide over to West Nashville...

Best milkshakes

You can't go to one without going to the other.

We still try to get there even though they've moved.

On a side note, all of our caterpillars officially cocooned as of Friday. Now we have to transfer them into the butterfly mesh house and await their arrival.

Hope your weekend is off to a great start. Getting woken up at 7:30 on a Saturday by the houses being built across the street is not my idea of a great start. But here comes a day off! (almost)

Black and White

Instagram made these pictures easy. I also didn't have to spend as much time looking through each of the filters seeing what looks best. and white aka Inkwell.

I also took some pictures as the storm rolled in tonight. What a beautiful sight it was.

I spy a cardinal.

Raining but no rainbow

Looking down from the bed onto sweet Kitten cat

How beautiful was this sunset tonight, eh?

I challenge you to smile at a stranger tomorrow.

Something I'm grateful for

I have so much to be grateful for. Here are a few of the highlights...

I'm grateful for that first moment in the day when the sun finally peeks through the clouds

Mornings that start like this one is

Skys as beautiful as this one

Days where we can picnic
There's so much to be grateful for. Just look around you!

Comment back...tell me what you're grateful for.

My assignment today was a vegetable. I'd have lots of gorgeous photos if our garden was further along.  Ordering salad at Panera hit the spot more ways than one!

Greek salad is tha bomb!

On my way home from work the sky was just so majestically beautiful I had to take a picture. It truly is amazing how life simply falls into place everyday. God did wonders on this planet!

beautiful chilly and windy sky

Oh yeah, so every spring we order caterpillars (through the mail?) at the preschool. They will cocoon and then turn into butterflies and we get to watch the entire process. It's intriguing yet a little gross at the same time.

Hope tomorrow is great for you. I get my hubby back! :)

The last thing I bought

Good thing the last thing I bought was so cool else I might be embarrassed to show you.

Neon Trees cd (thank you pop culture) and Grimey's t-shirt

Technically the last thing I bought was ice cream tonight, but I didn't take a picture of it. So this is the coolest last thing I bought.

I got to look at some houses today with my parents and real estate agent. So far it's an enjoyable experience and I love seeing what's out there.

Hope your weekend was restful. Get ready for another spring work week!

Bottle plus

Saturday was the best day. Robbie and I spent the entire day together until I had to go babysit at 4:30. We rarely get to do that! The day was jam packed with one thing after the next.

First I'll start with my photo assignment. Bottle.

We've got plenty of those

Our day began with a community service project. It was at Trevecca and they invited about 30 kids to come play. Boy did they ever enjoy it. There was a collection of TNU athletes who were getting community service hours. I also got to log some hours for my Masters, whoo hoo.

Three Leg Race

Duck Duck Goose

The whole group, kids and TNU athletes

Robbie couldn't resist the opportunity to type just one email

After lunch we stopped for a warm drink at the Frothy Monkey.

yummy hot chocolate

We even found out through Twitter that Karen Kingsbury was sitting 7 feet away from us!

just working on a brand new book

She even tweeted about us!

I did eventually say hi :)
Then we made our way over Grimey's for record store day. Oh man it was packed but so much fun. For some unknown reason I like Neon Trees; I even bought their new cd. They had bands playing outside and we had a great view.

Oh and another random find throughout the day was Jack White's truck.

Babysitting was awesome; the girls are just getting so big! 5 and 7 going on 13 is a fun age!

all ready f or the American Girl doll party
It was a great day. I'm so glad Robbie and I got to spend the day together as now he's off on his last golf trip till the fall. Play well guys!
