ReplyDelete2/3 cup shortening
3/4 cup sugar
1 tsp vanilla
1 egg
4 tsp milk
2 cups flour
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
Cream shortening, sugar, and vanilla. Add egg and milk; beat till light and fluffy. In separate bowl, combine flour, baking powder and salt. Blend dry ingredients with creamed mixture. Cover and chill at least 1 hour.
On a lightly floured surface roll to 1/8 inch thickness. Cut in desired shapes with cookie cutters. Bake on an ungreased cookie sheet at 375 for about 8 minutes.
If you prefer to make drop cookies rather than rolling out the dough, omit 1/2 cup flour and drop from a teaspoon onto a cookie sheet.
I do not have a recipe for butter cream icing but I'm sure you can just google one. They're probably all about the same and all are extremely satisfying!
